China has called for stronger international cooperation and regulation of emerging technologies to prevent their misuse by terrorist groups.
Addressing the United Nations Security Council, China's Chargé d'Affaires to the UN, Sun Lei, warned that terrorists are increasingly exploiting the internet, artificial intelligence, drones and other advanced technologies for recruitment, financing, propaganda and attacks.
He urged countries to strengthen risk assessments, improve regulatory frameworks and enhance international cooperation to prevent extremist groups from taking advantage of new technologies.

Sun also called for greater support for developing countries through technology transfer, training and information sharing to improve their counter-terrorism capabilities.
The Chinese envoy stressed the need for coordinated global action, while highlighting security concerns in Syria, Afghanistan and Africa's Sahel region.
He said China would continue working with international partners through the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS to combat terrorism in all its forms.
