China's leadership has outlined its economic priorities for the remainder of 2026, pledging stronger policy support to sustain growth, expand domestic demand and accelerate technological innovation.

The roadmap was agreed during a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, chaired by President Xi Jinping, which reviewed the country's economic performance and set key objectives for the months ahead.

Leaders reaffirmed plans to implement a more proactive fiscal policy and an accommodative monetary policy, while introducing targeted measures to boost consumer demand, improve market confidence and support high-quality economic development.

The meeting also emphasized investment in future industries, including artificial intelligence, with plans to expand infrastructure, strengthen support for scientific research and advance the AI Plus Initiative to drive innovation and economic transformation.

Officials said the policies are intended to ensure a strong start to China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) and reinforce the country's long-term economic resilience amid global uncertainty.
