China calls on U.S. to end Cuba blockade and reject military threats

China has called on the United States to end its economic blockade of Cuba and refrain from any threat or use of force against the Caribbean nation.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning made the remarks during a regular press briefing after reports suggested the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump was considering options for possible military action against Cuba.

Mao said China has consistently opposed actions that undermine Cuba's sovereignty and reaffirmed Beijing's support for the country's right to determine its own future without external interference.

She added that China will continue working with the international community to uphold international law, fairness and justice.

Her comments come as Cuba continues to face tightened U.S. sanctions, including restrictions that have affected fuel supplies and the country's economy.

Cuban officials maintain that the measures have disrupted essential services, including electricity, healthcare and food distribution, and have repeatedly condemned the sanctions as an attempt to exert economic pressure on the country.
