China-Guyana trade more than doubles to US$2.89B
Trade between Guyana and China more than doubled in 2025, reaching US$2.89 billion as economic ties between the two countries continued to expand.
Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Yang Yang disclosed the figure during celebrations marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Ambassador Yang said investment by Chinese companies in Guyana has also grown, with total investment now standing at approximately US$13 billion.

She pointed to several major infrastructure and energy projects as examples of the growing economic partnership between the two countries.
Among them is the new Demerara River Bridge, which has improved the movement of people and goods across the Demerara River.
The Aurora Solar Farm has also entered operation and is expected to reduce diesel consumption by approximately 18 million litres annually.
Ambassador Yang also highlighted Bosai Minerals Group’s donation of approximately US$3 million worth of power-generation equipment.
She said these developments demonstrate the tangible benefits of China-Guyana cooperation and the closer alignment of the two countries’ development priorities.
Guyana and China are marking 54 years of diplomatic relations this year. Their cooperation has expanded beyond trade and investment into healthcare, training, education and cultural exchanges.
Yang said China will continue to be a “trustworthy friend and good partner” of Guyana as both countries seek to deepen their longstanding relationship.
