Grenada police officers in China for specialised traffic training

Fifteen officers from the Royal Grenada Police Force are in China undergoing specialised traffic management training, as security cooperation between Grenada and Beijing expands.

The officers are participating in a two-week Traffic Management Course at the Hainan Province Police College, fully funded by China’s Ministry of Public Security.

The programme has been tailored to Grenada’s policing needs and is expected to strengthen officers’ skills in traffic management and expose them to practices used by Chinese law enforcement.

Before leaving Grenada, the officers attended a briefing with China’s Ambassador to Grenada and the Commissioner of Police.

The programme is part of wider cooperation between Grenada and China, which has included police training, equipment and other capacity-building initiatives.

China has also funded training opportunities for Grenadian public servants and professionals across several sectors since the two countries resumed diplomatic relations in 2005.

The latest initiative comes amid broader efforts across the Caribbean to strengthen policing capacity, particularly in areas such as traffic enforcement, crime prevention and modern law-enforcement techniques.
