China's Canton Fair opens a wider door to shared gains
China’s largest international trade exhibition, the Canton Fair, is attracting buyers from more than 220 countries and regions, reinforcing the country’s position as a major global trading partner.
The 140th edition, being held in Guangzhou from October 15 to November 4, marks 70 years of the event, which has recorded cumulative trade transactions worth US$1.6 trillion.
More than 12,000 companies participated in the first phase, showcasing advances in artificial intelligence, environmentally friendly products and manufacturing technology.

Organisers reported a 20.5 percent increase in AI-related products and a 13.5 percent rise in green products compared with the previous edition.
The fair is also creating opportunities for international businesses to access Chinese technology, strengthen supply chains and expand into new markets.
Meanwhile, China's foreign trade grew by 18.8 percent during the first nine months of 2026, reflecting continued expansion in imports and exports.
The exhibition concludes on November 4, with organisers highlighting innovation, international cooperation and mutually beneficial trade as key drivers of economic growth.
