Chinese ambassador pays courtesy call on Antigua and Barbuda health minister

Chinese Ambassador Jiang Wei paid a courtesy call on Michael Joseph, Minister of Health, Wellness, Environment and Civil Service Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda on June 11, 2026.


She extended congratulations on the minister's new appointment and they exchanged views on China and Antigua and Barbuda relations as well as pragmatic cooperation between the two countries in the fields of healthcare and environmental protection.



Jiang stated that China has always been committed to developing its relations with Antigua and Barbuda on the basis of mutual respect and equality, and attaches great importance to the specific concerns of Antigua and Barbuda regarding people’s health and well-being as well as environmental protection. She assured that China stands ready to continue working hand in hand with Antigua and Barbuda to deepen pragmatic cooperation in relevant areas.


Joseph expressed appreciation for the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two nations, acknowledging China’s significant contributions to Antigua and Barbuda’s development over the years. He said the meeting provided an excellent opportunity to identify key areas of mutual interest and potential pathways for cooperation that will further support the expansion and enhancement of healthcare services in Antigua and Barbuda.
