Fire Horse festivities highlight growing China-Antigua ties

The Chinese Embassy in Antigua and Barbuda celebrated the Lunar New Year on Saturday, ushering in the Year of the Fire Horse and showcasing the deepening friendship between the two countries.
Ambassador Jiang Wei described the Spring Festival as a time to honor family, peace, and harmony, while reflecting on 2025, when China’s economy surpassed $20 trillion in GDP and Antigua and Barbuda gained further regional prominence.

Leaders including Governor General Sir Rodney Williams and Prime Minister Gaston Browne highlighted the collaborative achievements in culture, agriculture, tourism, and infrastructure.
The celebration featured traditional Chinese music, dance performances, Hanfu experiences, calligraphy demonstrations, and interactive cultural activities. The Confucius Institute performed “Ode to Young China”, underscoring the event’s emphasis on cultural exchange.
Ambassador Jiang noted that the Fire Horse symbolizes vitality, progress, and transformation, expressing hope that the China-Antigua partnership will continue to strengthen, bringing prosperity, well-being, and closer cultural ties to both nations.
