The launch event, held on February 27, was attended by Chinese Ambassador Zheng Bingkai, who congratulated Dr. Braithwaite and praised his longstanding efforts to strengthen ties between China and Barbados.

Ambassador Zheng noted that the book offers a vivid and accessible account of China from a unique perspective, presenting what he described as an authentic and multi-dimensional portrayal of the country. He said the publication serves not only as a personal memoir but also as a valuable historical record that highlights the deepening bonds between the people of both nations.

According to Ambassador Zheng, the book is expected to further promote cultural exchange and people-to-people connections while contributing to the continued development of China–Barbados relations.

Dr. Braithwaite, reflecting on his four-year tenure in China, described the period as an unforgettable chapter of his life. He expressed hope that the book will encourage readers in Barbados to learn more about China and deepen their understanding of the country.

He added that greater knowledge and engagement between the two societies will help strengthen the longstanding friendship between Barbados and China.

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Barbados has also extended congratulations to Dr. Braithwaite and encouraged the public to explore the publication.
