Grenada and China talk on greater collaboration in table tennis

Grenada's Chinese Ambassador Yang Shu met with the new President of the Grenada Table Tennis Association Anthony Benjamin on 3 September 2026 to exchange views on deepening bilateral cooperation in table tennis. Joining the conversation was Amanda John, Secretary‑General, and other administrative representatives.
Ambassador Yang noted that table tennis is China’s national sport, boasting widespread public participation and high‑level professional standards. China and Grenada have carried out multiple cooperation projects surrounding the sport with China pledging to continue to support the promotion and development of table tennis in Grenada. The officials said that they believe that table tennis can serve as a bridge between the two countries to further strengthen people‑to‑people friendship.

Benjamin expressed gratitude for China’s long‑standing support for Grenada’s table tennis development. He remarked that the sport enjoys great popularity across Grenada. He noted that Grenada looks forward to forging more cooperation opportunities with China to upgrade training facilities, expand athlete teams and raise the standard of table tennis in the country.
