Nearly 50 teams from US, Canada and Caribbean participate in Bahamas dragon boat festival

The Bahamas Chinese Dragon Boat Association hosted the 5th Bahamas International Dragon Boat Festival on May 3, 2026.


Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas Yan Jiarong, attended along with. Ann Marie Davis, wife of the Hon. Prime Minister of The Bahamas, and Stephen LaRoda, Director of Immigration for The Bahamas.



In her remarks, Ambassador Yan introduced the guests to China’s over 2,000-year-old dragon boat culture. She highlighted the festival’s strong resonance with Bahamian traditions and its meaningful contribution to The Bahamas' sports tourism and festive economy.


She noted that dragon boat racing is not only a competitive sport but also a dialogue between civilizations—one that transcends borders and uses water as a bridge. All of humanity shares the same planet and should strive to live together in harmony. China stands ready to strengthen exchanges and dialogue with countries around the world, including The Bahamas, in order to advance the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.



The two-day festival attracted nearly 50 teams from The Bahamas, the United States, Canada, Jamaica, and other countries. The atmosphere was lively, and the event was covered by mainstream Bahamian media and online influencers.
