Seven Dominica students awarded Chinese gov't scholarships

Seven Dominican students have been awarded full scholarships by the Government of the People's Republic of China to pursue higher education at universities in China.

The recipients are Tiago Alishaw, Clint Iverson Lecointe, Michaela Warrington, Ayana Nakita Jordanne Augustine, Abigail Hannah Daniel, Nicquan Kern Richards, and Jeriah Makeya Ovesen.

The scholarships were officially presented during a ceremony at the Chinese Embassy in Morne Daniel on Wednesday.

Addressing the event, Education Minister Octavia Alfred said the scholarships represent a significant investment in Dominica's future, noting that the seven students will gain opportunities that will benefit both their personal development and the country's long-term progress.

She described education as one of the most valuable investments a nation can make and expressed appreciation to the Chinese Government for its continued support.

Alfred said the initiative reflects the strong friendship between Dominica and China and demonstrates confidence in the potential of the country's young people.
