Top political advisor stresses CPPCC's role as special consultative body

China's top political advisor, Wang Huning, has called on members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) to strengthen their advisory role and fully utilize the consultative body in supporting the country's development.
Wang, who is Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks on Tuesday while chairing a meeting of the CPPCC National Committee's Chairperson's Council.
He encouraged political advisors to provide well-informed policy recommendations that support China's modernization efforts and help build broad public consensus behind the country's goals of national development and rejuvenation.

Wang also stressed the importance of the united front, describing it as one of the CPC's enduring strengths developed through decades of practice. He urged CPPCC members to deepen their political, ideological, theoretical and emotional commitment to the CPC and to socialism with Chinese characteristics.
Additionally, he called on the CPPCC to remain focused on the Party's and the country's key priorities, while advancing consultative democracy through political consultation, democratic oversight, and participation in the discussion and management of state affairs.
