The Xinhua Institute, a think tank under Xinhua News Agency, on Tuesday unveiled a report at the Palais des Nations in Geneva detailing China’s approach to global governance.

Titled “Upholding International Justice and Jointly Addressing World Turbulence — Focusing on China’s Solution to Global Governance”, the report examines how the global governance system can be reformed amid rising unilateralism, protectionism, and geopolitical tensions.

It highlights the Global Governance Initiative (GGI), proposed by President Xi Jinping in September 2025, which centers on five principles: sovereign equality, international law, multilateralism, people-centered development, and action-oriented solutions. According to the report, the initiative aligns with the UN Charter, addresses global challenges, and has gained support from over 100 countries and organizations.

As a permanent UN Security Council member and the world’s largest developing country, China emphasizes its commitment to promoting peace, development, and a rules-based international order. The report reiterates China’s pledge to advance a community with a shared future for humanity and strengthen the role of the United Nations in global governance.

The Xinhua Institute said the report reflects its ongoing research into strategic domestic and international policy issues.
