YTEPP, China explore partnership to strengthen youth skills training

New opportunities for young people in Trinidad and Tobago could emerge from proposed cooperation between YTEPP Limited and China in technical training, employment and entrepreneurship.

The prospects were discussed during an August 20 meeting between Chinese Ambassador Ren Hongyan and a YTEPP delegation headed by Chairman Dr. Maurice Jones.

Talks examined how China’s experience in technology, technical education and innovation could complement YTEPP’s efforts to prepare young people for employment and business opportunities in an increasingly technology-focused economy.

YTEPP is particularly interested in initiatives that could strengthen practical and technical skills, improve workforce readiness and provide greater support for aspiring young entrepreneurs.

Joining Jones at the meeting were Deputy Chairman Ryan Sebastian, CEO Raymond Surujbally, Acting Director of Enterprise Development and Support Services Montgomery Guy and Operations Director Keon Stephenson.

Both sides indicated an interest in maintaining the dialogue as they identify specific areas where partnerships and programmes could be developed.

The proposed collaboration forms part of wider efforts to equip Trinidad and Tobago’s young people with relevant skills and create stronger pathways from training into employment and entrepreneurship.
