Barbados and China committed to practical cooperation in tourism, air transport

Barbados and China have expressed a commitment to deepening practical cooperation in tourism and air transport.


Chinese Ambassador to Barbados Zheng Bingkai made a courtesy call on Ian Gooding-Edghill, Minister of Tourism and International Transport in Barbados on November 18,2025.

 

In an in-depth exchange, the two officials, accompanied by Counselor Mr. Lei Hao, expressed willingness to working alongside each other to promote the implementation of more tourism facilitation measures, enriched cultural exchanges and cooperation and the promotion of sustained, positive development of bilateral relations.

Ambassador Zheng Bingkai noted that Barbados is one of the safest countries with the richest tourism resources in the Caribbean region.


Minister Gooding-Edghill warmly welcomed Ambassador Zheng to his new role and expressed gratitude for China’s long-standing support to Barbados.


Barbados is willing to actively work with China to promote the signing of a memorandum of understanding on international tourism and an air transport agreement, building on the current solid foundation of cooperation, and promoting sustained, in-depth and solid economic and tourism cooperation between the two countries, according to officials.


Since establishing diplomatic ties in 1977, China and Barbados have deepened collaboration across multiple sectors — from infrastructure to renewable energy, education, and technology.
