Chinese Ambassador attends Bahamas Disability Awards Ceremony

Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, Yan Jiarong, participated in the 2026 Disability Icon Awards Ceremony, where she joined Bahamian officials in recognising individuals for their contributions and achievements.


The event was attended by Mrs. Ann Marie Davis, wife of the Prime Minister of The Bahamas, along with senior government ministers responsible for social services, the environment and natural resources.


During the ceremony, Ambassador Yan praised the award recipients for their determination, resilience and commitment to overcoming challenges. She also reaffirmed China's support for initiatives aimed at advancing the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.

The ambassador noted that China remains committed to strengthening cooperation with The Bahamas through South-South cooperation and the Global Development Initiative, including efforts that promote social inclusion and development.


She also highlighted China's ongoing work to improve opportunities and support services for persons with disabilities, underscoring the country's people-centred approach to development.
