Trinidad & Tobago Chinese ambassador meets with IICA and UNESCO reps

Chinese Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago Ren Hongyan met with Diana Francis, Representative for Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture Delegation in Trinidad and Tobago on May 18.
The two exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in the agricultural sector.

Ambassador Ren praised the institute’s efforts in fostering food security, agricultural trade, and the recycling economy. He also expressed willingness to closely cooperate in areas of talent training and technological innovation to promote the sustainable development of agriculture in Trinidad and Tobago and effectively enhance the well-being of the local people.
Francis expressed appreciation for China’s development achievements in the agricultural sector, and stated that the IICA looks forward to learning from China’s advanced experience to assist Trinidad and Tobago in its agricultural modernization process.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Hongyan met with the Chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago National Commission for UNESCO, Brendon Butts on May 19. The two exchanged views on cooperation in the fields of education and culture.

In their exchange, Ambassador Hongyan learned about the operations of the commission and expressed willingness to maintain close communication to further strengthen cooperation between China and Trinidad and Tobago in areas such as higher education and youth development.
Butts said he appreciated China's achievements in education development and looks forward to more practical cooperation with the embassy.
